Jalen Hurts Is Contractually Banned From Golfing, Which Can’t Be Worth $255 Million
So this little revelation comes after Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and Jeffrey Lurie were out in Merion the other day with Barack Obama. I’m sure that’ll generate a ton of buzz this close to next Tuesday, but the real bit of news here is that Jalen wasn’t allowed to swing the sticks himself.
Not because he didn’t want to golf. Not because he sucks at golf. But because it’s in his contract that he’s it allowed to.
$255 million. There are so, so many things I’d do for that type of money. But to not have the ability to get out and play a pristine course whenever some buddies unexpectedly need a 4th? I mean…all I’m saying is maybe Jalen’s agent should have squeezed another $20-30 million out of the Eagles before signing that one.
And don’t get me wrong—it’s a great clause to put in there by the Eagles. Anyone who has been around Philly sports for long enough knows that this city is cursed with the most bizarre injury bug. One moment Jalen would be pulling 4 iron on a 203 par 3 with some water, the next moment he’d be out for the year with a rotator cuff injury that nobody in modern medicine has ever seen before. Smart move by them to ban the face of their franchise of having any fun off the field. But brutal break for Jalen.
I just can’t imagine the agony of being a 4th in a group playing at Merion and not even being able to fire off a few crispy wedge shots from 40-50. Nobody would blame him if he needed to get that contract restructured in the off-season.
